Assumption College has commenced a new three day event in Kilmore called RURBAN, the aim of which is to provide experiences usually only available in the city to communities in regional Victoria.
The name is, quite simply, a combination of the words rural and urban to reflect the country roots of our community and our increasing proximity to the urban fringe as the city expands and grows.
The concept for the event evolved from the generous offer of several long-standing Assumption families with an extensive history as some of Australia’s leading providers and operators of carnival rides, food and amusements.
RURBAN will feature carnival rides, amusements, food, music, fireworks and a paddock-to-plate precinct for local and regional provedores. The dream is to develop RURBAN into one of the largest events of its kind in regional Victoria, one that will draw tourism and interest from across the state.
Importantly, as a flagship fundraising event, all proceeds from RURBAN will help deliver a state-of the-art Community and Sports Pavilion at Assumption College. The Pavilion, once completed, will benefit more than just the school. Community use of the facility is a big feature of the project, which includes a 200 seat function centre.
The college is deeply grateful for the support of the families involved who have made RURBAN possible.
